Brussels – Full leopard calf with long spine decorated with a red title piece, floral motifs and friezes, 173 x 102, 308p. 1791. First edition. Table of contents before the letter and paginated vj-viij. Interior clean and intact. Fields, corners, covers rubbed with scuffs. Spine rubbed, headpiece leveled, tail with loss, two claws on title piece. Collection composed of letters, anecdotes, poetry. The greater part of the first volume consists of correspondence with the Count of Bonneval (an affair which led the latter to take refuge in Turkey and fight under this new flag). Also in the first volume is correspondence between Cardinal de Fleury and Cardinal de Tencin. 7 other volumes were published until 1790. The whole is rarely brought together.
