M. de Launay – Chez Audot et Chez Rusand
Full marbled calf with long back decorated with the title and very richly decorated, decorated fields, red marbled edges, 176 x 100, 856p. 1811. Before the letter: various information (on eclipses, seasons, zodiac etc. and calendar), 10p. ; Address to the Empress-Queen Joséphine, and warning, paginated xvj-xx; Preliminary knowledge of gardening, pp. xxj-xlij. Clean and intact interior. Corners and fields rubbed, two corners slightly bumped and blunted. Covers rubbed with scuffs (more significant on the lower cover), spine in good condition with scuffs on the cap and tail. Beautiful copy. Famous almanac founded in 1755 by Pons-Augustin Alletz who published it until 1781. Thomas-François de Grace (1713-1798) continued it until 1796 (source: Grand-Carteret), then Mordant de Launay, one librarians from the Natural History Museum. Very successful almanac which appeared at least until 1890.
