With index. 11 drop caps, 6 headings. With handwritten ex-libris with the title “Ludocivici Gasque Delombes doctoris medici in univesitata monspeliensi”. On the inside cover two handwritten paragraphs by the same hand, one of which is dated 1772, the first mentions the payment of a carrier for bottles; the second an injury caused by a sharp instrument. Two other handwritten inscriptions on the inside cover. Interior with foxing 'variable intensity. There are losses to the edges of the cover page, half-title, title page (without affecting the text), privilege (without affecting the text), preface (with very little affecting the text). Rubbed corners and fields, dulled, one corner reduced. Rubbed covers with scuffs and small losses. Rubbed spine with marked scuffs notably on three boxes, headdress and tail partly missing. 2 small losses in foot box. French doctor, Lazara Rivière taught at the University of Montpellier and was an advisor and physician to King Louis XIII. His Institutiones medicae was long used as a teaching text. His Praxis medica contains many therapeutic indications: it notably contains the formula for the antiemetic potion also called River Potion.
