Arrêt du Conseil d’État du Roy – Les Flamans Nez dans les Provinces des Pays-bas Autrichiens demeurant dans les Païs de l’Obéissance –
8 pages, 243 x 190, 1767. Letterhead, initial letter. Judgment declaring that the Flemish Nose in the Provinces of the Austrian Netherlands, residing in the Countries of the Obedience of the King, are not considered Aubains nor their Successions subject to the right of Aubaine. February 26, 1737. The Austrian Netherlands (Belgium austriacum) were the southern Netherlands in possession of the Habsburgs of Austria during the period 1714-1794. The right of aubaine is a right of feudal origin for which the lord collected the property of a foreigner, or "aubain". Right abolished by the Constituent Assembly. This judgment is therefore situated between the War of the Spanish Succession and the War of the Austrian Succession. This decision follows the request of Nicolas Sauvage, sub-farmer of the Flanders estates, in which Artois and Valenciennes are mentioned, through Mr. Gillart du Rosset, boarding councilor of the old town of Valenciennes. Slightly sunlit but very good, clean and intact.
